Residential complex
Not too complicated. This design for the Stadshellingen in the Kop van de Staart logically and consequentially acts through the various levels of interest and attraction at regional, urban and local scale that the peculiar landscape and proximity qualities fairly demand especially according to the Municipality Master plan developed in the Regional frame.
Generating the New, Re-Generating the Old [...]
In European culture Innovation is more an ideal rather than a real praxis: neither the advocated Confrontation, nor Reconciliation are synonymous of Innovation, rather they reinforce the astonishing -ever lasting-capacity of European Cities to constantly reinvent their spatial relationships exploiting the temporary potentials to be exploited at the very moment for the demanding contextual requirements.
Real Architecture and Urbanism are objective and express of the inner structure of the time and specific environment from which they stem.
The ‘rechtDoor Project unfolding is merely nothing more than a contemporary continuation in the urban evolution of Dordrecht in the Drierivierenpunt.
The area display and the housing typologies challenge the well-known Dutch anti-conformity, especially referring to the latest recurrent big brother exhibitionist fashions to even exacerbate public exposure creating interesting social translations between common and individual sphere.
Moreover, according to this, and on purpose to be provocative against the increasing tendency to live alone, the housing typologies are slightly wide in order to spur people to share living (students, young workers, elderly) or give the flexible opportunity to turn the duplex into simplex using the stairs inside the apartment below to access the one upstairs and possibly augment the amount of people in the building.
